Velma Jewel Owen Fleming went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 13, 2003, at Mesa Springs Healthcare Center. She was born February 10, 1902, in Navarro County, Texas to Henry Wilburn and Martha Augusta (Lane) Owen. She resided in Peacock, Texas, until she moved to Abilene in 1946. Jewel was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Chapel Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at Community Memorial Funeral Home with Paul R. Matta officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 North Second Street.
