"Mrs. Hazel Biddle, age 91, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Labette County Medical Center. She entered the hospital Aug. 27.
Mrs. Biddle's home formerly was at 116 S. Park. In recent years she resided in a Parsons nursing home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1891, the daughter of Theodore A. Mathis and Evangeline Newcomb Mathis, both early day Parsons residents. She attended Washington Elementary School and was graduated from Parsons High School in 1911. Mrs. Biddle attended college at Kansas City University and was graduated from the United Seminary at Dayton, Ohio.
She and Rev. L. W. Biddle were married in Dayton on May 1, 1919. The Rev. Biddle was a minister in the former Evangelical United Brethren denomination.
During his ministry, the couple lived at LaCrosse, Loveland, Longmont, and Denver, Colo.; Kansas City, Topeka, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Salem, Ore. After their retirement in 1959 they returned to Parsons. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1980.
Mrs. Biddle was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the M.M.C. class, the choir, and mission circles of the church.
For many years she was active as a member of music clubs and Woman's Federated Clubs. She was a charter member of Church Women United and a past president of the Mutual ImporvementClub. She was also a member of the former Mendota Club.
Mrs. Biddle is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Roselyn Chumley of Evansville, Ind. A brother preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Johnson and the Rev. Elbert V. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Friday."
