Caroline Schroer Brubach was the daughter of Jakob Schroer (1816-1867) and Maria "Elisabetha" Ebert (1836-1879), both born in Elmstein. Jakob Schroer was first married to Katharina Ebert (1822-1859), sister to Elisabetha. After Jakob died, Elisabetha married Jakob Reichert and had four more children: Anna Maria, Heinrich, Katharina and Margaretha. She was a cousin to Charles Schroer of Mansfield, their fathers being brothers.
