CHURCH, VERNON ROY
Of Pemberton. Age 79 years. Died January 21, 2002. A native of the Northwestern United States, he toured the World during his military Career residing in Pemberton Twp. since 1975. Vernon was a retired ADRC (E-7) having served 23 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was on the USS Enterprise during WWII and was in over 16 Battles. He also served on the 1st expedition to the South Pole and also served at the North Pole. Vernon was a Veteran of WWII, Korea & Vietnam. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve of Lakehurst and the notable Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Chapter #3 of South Jersey and was a Gold Star Father having lost his son Robert E. Church, of the U.S. Marines having died in Vietnam. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Medford. He also was a former Bookkeeper for Rancocas Valley Furniture, Mount Holly. Beloved Husband of Elizabeth J. (nee Hoffman). Beloved Father of John G. and his wife Pat of Whiting and Marsha G. Gardner and her husband Wayne of Lindenwold, and the late Robert E. Brother of Charles, Robert and Frank all of Vancouver, WA and Earl of Texas. Grandfather of 3 and Great Grandfather of 5. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday from THE LANKENAU FUNERAL HOME, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton. Interment BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Friends may call 7 to 9 PM Thursday and 10 to 11 AM Friday at the Funeral Home.
