Joseph Morgan, Jr., resided in his native place until 1815, when, soon after the death of his father, he went to live in the adjoining town of Westfield. On the first day of January, 1817, he removed to Hartford, Connecticut, and became the proprietor of the "Exchange Coffee House." In April, 1829 he leased the City Hotel where he remained until November, 1835 when he retired from business. As one of the founders, a director, and large owner of the AEtna (Fire) Insurand Company of Hartford he took an active interest in its development, which only ceased with his death in Hartford. July 23. 1847.
