Elaine Marie Baumgart, 84, of Lanesville, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at her home near Lanesville. She was born June 15, 1929, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late August and Sophia Leaf. She was retired from Avery Federal Savings and Loan Company in Louisville and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Lanesville and the New Albany High School Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bernard Leaf and her sister, Dolly Abbott.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar Raymond Baumgart; her sons, Robert R. "Bob" Baumgart (Kitty) and William R. "Bill" Baumgart (Karen) both of Corydon; her grandchildren, Gretchen James (Kyle), Greta Schneider (Kiel), Greg Baumgart (Sheree), Grant Baumgart, Russell Baumgart, Daniel Baumgart and Angela Sellers (Justin); 17 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Lucille Leaf of Boston, Massachusetts.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church near Lanesville. Pastor Christopher Truelsen will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. John's Lutheran School.
Pallbearers will be Greg, Grant, Russell and Daniel Baumgart, Kyle James and Kiel Schneider.
