Charles S. Chase died of double pneumonia. He was born in Herkimer Co., N.Y., and moved to Scranton, Pa., when 2 years old, and to Jonesboro in 1856. He was a stone mason. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church, although not a member.

He married Jan 28, 1859, Ellen Cruse and they had 14 children, 13 of whom survive.

He left a brother in Scranton, Pa.
He was an uncle to:
