Samuel D. Hale, the son of Luther and Kate Stines Hale was born in Willisburg, Ky. on August 20. 1868. He grew to man hood in that county and gained prominence not only as an excellent workman in his line as a carpenter and also in political fields, serving as deputy sheriff of Washington County for three consecutive terms. In 1893 he was married to Athenia Masters in Willisburg, and the family was raised in that community, Mrs. Hale passing away on May 2, 1914.

In 1920 Mr. Hale came to the DeKalb community with his children and in 1928 married Ida Perklns of DeKalb. He was regarded as a capable and able workman and an upright citizen. He was a member of the DeKalb local of the Carpenters Union, the Masonic Order of Willisburg. Ky., and the Baptist Church at Tatham Springs, Ky.

His passing is mourned by his widow, eleven children, Luther Ezra of Rockford, Ellis Roy of Twheaton, Earl of Rockford, Will of Rockford, Justus of Maple Park, Mrs. Lillle Pinkston of DeKalb, Mrs. Fay Dearth of Rockford, Marshall of Wheaton, Russell of Rockford, Mrs. Lucy Graham of Waukegan and Mrs. Edith Renfer of Hinckley. There are 25 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One brother, Walter, lives at Willisburg. Ky. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Nelson and Ronan Mortuary in DeKalb at 2 o'clock on Friday . with Rev. W.G. Foote of the DeKalb Baptist Church in charge. Six sons will be pallbearers at the services. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening and until the services tomorrow. The body will be taken to Chicago tomorrow afternoon and placed on ??? train for dispatch to Wlllisburg. Burial will be in the cemetery at Willisburg, Ky, after services held In the church there Sunday afternoon.

Samuel was the son of Luther Hale & Catherine Stine. He married 6 Nov. 1890 in Washington Co. Ky., Athena Masters, & they had 12 known children. After his first wife's death in 1914, he married 2nd. 7 Aug. 1928, Mrs. Ida May Milburn Holliday Perkins.
