Helen Marie Hayes Brotherton, "Jackie", 72, of Pearisburg, passed away Sun day, May 31, 1998 in Princeton Community Hospital. Mrs. Brotherton was born July 31, 1925 in Mount Hope, W. Va. and was a daughter of the late Zennie Alphin Hayes and Odessa Gladys Bryant Bernath.
Mrs. Brotherton was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sheffey Brotherton and her sister, Evelyn Grabowski.
Mrs. Brotherton was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, Va.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn and Jack Kingrea, Lisa Brotherton, all of Pearisburg; one son, Robert Sheffey (Robin) Brotherton, Jr., Pearisburg; five grandchildren, Michael Kingrea, Tina and Candida Soloweij, Jennifer and Sheffey Brotherton; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, Va., with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
