On Sunday, 4 Jan 1905, Edith, along with several of her siblings and others were out on the highest and steepest hills within Iowa County, known as Spensley's Hill on a Bobsleed, steered by Carlos Healy, when an accident occured nearing the stone Bridge at the foot of the hill. Her brother Reuben broke his leg, and Elmer hurt his leg as well. Doctors, Bailey, Vivian and Parmley assisted the injured.
