Rev. C. D. Ellis officiated at the services. Interment was in the Welcome Home cemetery.
Riser was born in Lincoln parish near Ruston. He attended school at Louisiana Tech for three years and taught in the schools of Union parish. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tenn. and opened his funeral home in Columbia in 1934.
He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis club and the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Upshaw Riser; one daughter, Mrs. Delaine Gunn; one son, Neil Riser; one brother, Andra Riser, of Ruston; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Melton, Cameron Minard, Clark Hester, Buddy Erskine, Dr. Wren Causey, Teddy Warner, Paul Meredith, David Gartman, and Dr. E. L. Carroll.
