Services were held Monday for Janie Louise Beetley, 93, who passed away April 6 in a nursing home in Bandera. Rev. Lester Haines officiated at graveside services in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Miss Beetley was born July 26, 1891 in Rockport, the daughter of Samuel and Mattie Lou Beetley, early Texas Pioneers. She graduated from San Marcos College with a BS Degree in Mathematics and taught advanced Mathematics in the Texas Public Schools for 11 years. Following her teaching career, she was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company in Kingsville, as a Stenographer in the Superintendent's Office and remained there 35 years before taking retirement. She moved to Kerrville in 1974. Miss Beetley, a lifetime Methodist, was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, also, a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 325 in Kingsville where she received her 50 year pin from that lodge in 1962. Survivors include her cousin, Mrs. Loucile Smith of Kerrville; a nephew, Samuel Beetley of Glendale, California; a niece, Mrs. Betty Chalmers of Newport Beach, California and a sister-in-law Mrs. Sallie Beetley of Rockport. Kerrville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
