Memorial funeral services for Elizabeth Hinkley, 70, of Knoxville, who died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Friday, June 21, at Zion Methodist Church in Pershing. Rev. Steve Bagby officiated at the services. Music was provided by Barb Marvelli, soloist and Darlene Mooberry, organist. Interment was at the Zion Cemetery.
Elizabeth was born on November 21, 1931 in Jesup, the daughter of John and Emily (Rathburn) Mumaw. She graduated from Jesup High School.
A lifelong resident of Iowa, she lived in several towns before moving to Marion County in 1972. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she worked at the VA Medical Center before ill health forced her to retire. She had resided at Westridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville for seven years before moving to Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville two months ago.
Elizabeth was an avid bird watcher. She also enjoyed gardening and was a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Aurora Yearous of Oakland, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anney Yearous-Geratets and her husband, Jerry of Sioux Falls, S.D., Becky Perkey of Knoxville and Barb and Roy Provenzano of Pershing; a sister, Lois Higgins and husband Richard of Des Moines; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were made by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
