Marvin Wayne Favinger, died October 17, 2013 at Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska. Marvin was born September 7, 1921 in Kearney County, Liberty Township to Henry Franklin and Lillian Britomarte (Newbold) Favinger.

Marvin was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. His father was killed in a farm accident in 1931; he and his mother continued living on the farm for several years, and then they moved to Minden, Nebraska. He attended country school and Minden Public Schools, graduating from Minden High (NE.) School in 1939. After graduation he worked in Minden as an auto body repairman and later in Burbank, California at Lockheed-Vega Aircraft factory. On April 25, 1942, he married Wilma Elizabeth Mueller at the Zion Lutheran Church, Shickley, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born: Steven, Robert, and Bruce. In August of 1942 he enlisted in the Navy and served until the end of World War II. He was discharged in 1945 returning to Minden, Nebraska where he started his own auto body shop.

In 1952, he sold the auto body business and moved with his family to the farm where he had been born. They continued living there until retirement in 1985 when they moved into Minden, Nebraska. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a board member of the Soil Conservation Service and the Tri Basin Natural Resources District, and a member of the Kearney County Extension Board. He served seven years on the Minden Public (NE.) School Board of Education. He was also a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Minden, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Bethany Home in Minden. He was dedicated to the advancement of agriculture and the betterment of the rural community.

Marvin is survived by: wife, Wilma Favinger of Minden, Nebraska; sons, Steven Favinger and his wife Lynne, Bruce and his wife Deanne, all of Minden. Nebraska; grandchildren, Curt and his wife Carrie, Lincoln, Nebraska, Scott and his wife Brenda, Fort Carson, Colorado, Eric and his partner Apryl of Denver, Colorado, Melissa Seiler and her husband Greg, Minden, Nebraska, Mason and his wife Joelle, Minden, Nebraska, Mark and his wife Jennifer, Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma and Matthew, Minden, Nebraska; Lina Heinke of Germany, granddaughter by choice; great grandchildren, Riley, Ashley, Kelsey, Atticus and Greyson Favinger and Drew, Zoey and Gage Seiler.

Marvin was preceded in death by: parents; infant son, Robert Favinger; four brothers and four sisters.

Burial was in Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska with Military Rites provided by the Minden (NE.) American Legion and the Heartwell (NE.) VFW.
