DEATH OF ALONZO W. LITTLE
One of the Best and Most Favorably Known Men on Blue Mountain.

Alonzo Worth Little one of the best and most favorably known men living on what is known as the "old turnpike" between the Borough of Sussex and the Delaware river, died on Saturday last, at his home on the old Crowell farm near the rise of the Big Flat Brook, in Montague township. He was in his sixty-third year. At the age of 17 he enlisted in Co. H. 40th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteers, on the last call for volunteers, issued by President Lincoln. After the close of the war he returned to Montague and took up the work of an agriculturist and lumberman. About thirty years ago he purchased the Crowell place and engaged more extensively than ever in the hardwood lumber business and in stock raising and general farming. He was frugal and industrious and gradually added more acreage to his holdings which included the old Tom Perry place. At the time of his death his holdings amounted to 633 acres, which embraced the best fishing and hunting grounds on the mountain. He was a man of powerful physique, vigorous and of unusual good health until his last illness. Mr. Little was a man of generous impulses and was personally fond of hunting and fishing. His home was an hospitable one and was often the mecca of local sportsman of the better type. They all liked him for his many admirable qualities and his sterling honesty.
He is survived by his wife, who was a Miss McDeede, and three sons, Edwin and Ezekiel at home and Dr. Alonzo W., who recently graduated fron the Baltimore College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also survived by two brothers, H. W., of Hainsville, Elwood M. of Branchville, Mary, Emma, wife of Oscar Courtright, of Crescent City, Florida. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church at Beemerville on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was largely attended. Interment in the Beemerville cemetery.
