Mr. Dennis T. "Corn" Thorson, 64, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Norma J. (Flynn) Thorson, and two daughters, Jamie (Troy) Welsh of Minooka, Ill., and Jodi Harrington of Morris. Ill., Dennis is the loving papa to three beautiful granddaughters, Miranda Hartshorn, Taylor Hartshorn, and Addison Harrington. He is also survived by his mother, Martha (Heiden) Thorson of Morris; two sisters, Ellen Nicholson of Arizona, and Lisa (Larry) Evans of Coal City, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Cyril Thorson, and a sister, Lori Marshall.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Dennis retired from the Grundy Area Vocational Center and worked as a part-time courier at Morris Hospital. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters.
The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington St., Morris. A celebration of Dennis' life will immediately follow with Pastor Jim McGuire officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded, with inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood to follow at a later date.
Memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated.
