Daughter of Henry H. Bocke, Jr. and Eleanor A. (Ridder) Bocke. Virginia was a mother, grandmother and sister.

Obituary excerpts from the "Quincy Herald Whig," Quincy, Adams, Illinois, February 10, 2012:

Virginia "Ginny" Marie Stark, 85, formerly of 3605 Queen Anne, Quincy, died on Saturday (Feb. 4, 2012) in San Mateo, Calif. She was born on March 14, 1926, in Quincy, daughter of Henry and Eleanor Ridder Bocke. Mrs. Stark was a Quincy resident for 83 years. She was a graduate of St. John's School and Notre Dame High School in Quincy. She was a secretary in the athletic department of Quincy College from 1969 until her retirement in 1988. Prior to this, she worked in the Adams County Clerk's office and the Treasurer's office. She also was a secretary at Kohl Grocer Co. in Quincy, and had worked for the Army Signal Corps in Arlington, Va., during World War II. She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Francis. She was a former member of Spring Lake Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf. Mrs. Stark volunteered for many years delivering Meals on Wheels, filling grocery orders for RSVP, tutoring elementary school students at St. Dominic School and doing volunteer work at Blessing Hospital. Mrs. Stark enjoyed music, playing the piano, gardening, golf, bowling, bridge and keeping up her home. She delighted in the accomplishments of her son and the lives of her three grandchildren in California. She traveled frequently to care for them. She was a perfectionist in all things and could always be counted on by family and friends to do her part.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sisters, Geraldine Bocke and Jeanette VonderHaar, all of Quincy.

SERVICES: A memorial service was held Tuesday at Crosby N. Gray Funeral Home in Burlingame, Calif. Mrs. Stark was to buried at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, Calif. MEMORIALS: Quincy Notre Dame High School or St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
