Frank Marcy Council, son of Robert and Ellen Cresse Council was born January 27, 1882 near Fancy Prairie, Illinois and died at the Memorial Hospital, Springfield, Illinois at 11:25 P.M., November 16, 1954. He was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of five brothers and three sisters and had lived his entire life on the farm where he was born. His paternal grandparents, Hardy and Jane Hanna Council were early settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois coming in 1819. His maternal grandparents, George and Maria Marcy Cresse, settled in Sangamon County in 1841.

When a young man he united with the Presbyterian Church at Fancy Prairie and was active in Church work until his health failed. He served as elder in the Church for forty-four years and acted as Church treasurer for forty-two years. he had also been a Sunday School teacher. After attending the local school he attended Springfield High School and Valparaiso Business College, Valparaiso, Indiana.

He was united in marriage March 20, 1913 with Mildred Johnson who survives with their two children, a son Robert E. Council of Fancy Prairie, Illinois and a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Kern of Athens, Illinois. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Donald Dean and Marlene Kern and Stephen Edward Council and five nieces and one nephew.

He was quiet and unassuming in manner but the soul of honor and had been a devoted son, husband and father.

Funeral services were conducted at the Fancy Prairie Presbyterian Church at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, November 19, 1954, Rev. F.D. McMartin officiating. Burial was in Fancy Creek Cemetery.
