Paul E. Rodenburg, 83, of Union County, died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville.

Paul was born in Union County, January 3, 1930, to Roy and Clara Garrett Rodenburg. He attended Clifton and Brownsville schools. He entered the U.S. Army on September 10, 1951 in Indianapolis and served as a corporal in the Korean War Veteran. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal prior to his discharge September 2, 1953 from Camp Carson, Colorado. On February 14, 1954, he married the former, Betty Thomas.

Paul was employed as a farmer and drove school bus in Union County for 30 years. He was a past
member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Paul enjoyed farming, woodworking, and family.

Besides his wife of 59 years, Paul is survived by a son and his spouse: Kenneth Rodenburg and SueAnn of Brownsville; two daughters: Brenda Rodenburg of Connersville; Sharon Holt and her husband, Joseph of Liberty; a sister-in-law: Donna Rodenburg of Cambridge City; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three nieces. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Walter Rodenburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19th at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Pastor David Soper of the Liberty Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Abington Cemetery, Wayne County, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #1472, both of Liberty.
