Minnie was born in November 1875 in Ohio, the daughter of Daniel G. Jolly (1852-1951) and Caroline Snelbaker (1853-1941). She had four siblings: Maude (1878-1951), Howard Charles (1880-1966), Bessie (1884-1945), and Eva Blanch (1891-1975).

Minnie married John Henry Melcher 23 May 1894 in Canton, Stark, Ohio. John was born 22 June 1871 in Canton, Stark, Ohio, the second of six children of William Jennings Melcher and Mary Ella Stover. John and Minnie had four, possibly five children: Olive Minnie, Mary E.(?), Homer, Beatrice Ruth, and an infant son, who was born and died sometime between June and December 1900. Their son Homer was born in November 1896 and lived only 10 months. Minnie and Beatrice were the only children to live to adulthood.

Minnie died in October 1903 in Canton. Sometime following Minnie's death, their daughter Olive Minnie went to live with her mother's sister, and their daughter Beatrice Ruth went to live with her grandparents. John died 2 December 1917 in Canton, Ohio.
