Dale Victor Soderstrom, 80, of Prescott, Ariz., died peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 23, 2013.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., to Albert and Evelyn Soderstrom. He and his family moved to Vista, Calif., when he was 12 years old. He attended Vista High School, where he played football and baseball. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army, and was a Veteran of the Korean War. After the Army, Dale returned to California, where in 1957 he met and fell in love with Tina Kemmish. They were married and soon after moved to Glendale, Ariz.
He began working for Goodyear Aerospace and moved his family to Goodyear, Ariz., where they lived until he retired. In 2002, Dale and Tina bought a home in Prescott to be closer to their granddaughters.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters, Fern and Karen, and by his wife, Tina, who passed in 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee Castillo of Prescott; stepson Danny Kemmish of Sun City, Ariz.; stepdaughters Kathy Cress of Surprise, Ariz. and Marie Kemmish of Sun City; his granddaughters, Amber Bower of Austin, Texas, and Starla Smith of Prescott; granddaughters Tina Ann Marie Kemmish of Mesa, Ariz., and Kristi Jacobsen of Payson, Ariz.; grandsons Daniel Grier of Surprise, Ariz., and Brian Kemmish of Payson; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Jennessa, Aidan, Shane, Joshua and Silas.
There will be a committal service with military honors at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Prescott National Cemetery, 500 N. Highway 89 Prescott.
