Even though Mr. Glaston had a variety of jobs he loved being a police officer for the city of Bay Springs and a member of the Fire department. He retired from the police force in 1986 and was one of the founding members of the Bay Springs Volunteer Fire Department which was established in 1948. Up until eight weeks ago Mr. Temple was still an acting responding member and was the oldest active volunteer firefighter in the state of Mississippi. He also served as Coroner for Jasper County for two terms. He always looked forward to Friday nights going to the Old Watermill Fish Camp where he said they have the best coleslaw around ! But above all Mr Glaston was most active in his church, First Baptist of Bay Springs where he graced the back pew with his presence almost every time the doors were opened. He leaves behind not only many family members, but friends as well who will miss hearing all of his stories which he loved to share about times passed.
