Dory was a daughter of William R. McMullen and his wife, Elizabeth Prevo. Dory was the second wife of William Coultas, a son of Thomas Coutlas. She was the widow of a Mr. Cooper and pregnant when she married William Coutlas on October 30, 1866 in Iroquois County, Illinois. Dory and Will farmed in Artesia Township of Iroquois County, Illinois. They had six children. Dory had a tragic life. She buried both of her husbands and outlived six of her seven children.
