Living to the ripe old age of 93 years, Mrs. Margaret Chittick passed way at the home of her son, Claude D., Penobsquis early Friday, February 23 after a short illness.
She was born in Rhode Island [1], of Loyalist descent, daughter of the late Rev. Matthew and Elizabeth (Boyer) Smith, natives of England.
After having married Samuel Chittick they lived in Anagance Ridge until Mr. Chittick passed away about 35
years ago. Mrs. Chittick then moved to Penobsquis. Mrs. Chittick possessed an exceptionally keen mind for a woman of her age. She followed world events daily with interest. Her health was of the best until a few days ago when she became ill.
Surviving are three sons, Beverley M., Hyde Park, Mass; Claude T. Penobsquis; and Christopher S. Franklin Mass. And three daughters Mrs. R. Cain, Manville, Alberta, Mrs. Samuel Gifford, Franklin, Mass; and Mr. Pearl Manning, Newtown, Kings Co.
The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon with Rev. F. J. Little, Sussex Corner, conducting the service. The hymns Rock of Ages and The Lords My Shepherd were sung.
Internment was made in the family plot in Anagance Cemetery with Mr. Little reading the committal service.
Pallbearers w the three sons Beverley, Christopher, Claude, and a nephew Herbert Smith.
