Our Heavenly Father called to rest one of His beloved children, Nancy Elizabeth Asbury on Friday, September 20, 2013 at her home in Midland, N.C. Affectionately known as "Aunt Nancy," she was born in Cabarrus County on July 17, 1920 to the late Theodore "Babe" Pharr and the late Willie Boger Pharr. She was married to the late Isaac Thomas Asbury.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward Pharr and Bill Pharr; two sisters: Mary Ervin and Sadie Weathers; two sons: James Price Asbury and Daniel Eugene Asbury.

Nancy received her education by the Cabarrus County school system. She worked at the Scenic Hosiery Mill in Concord, N.C.

Nancy accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age when she attended Bellefonte Presbyterian Church. She later joined Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Concord, N.C., where she served as the mother of the church, a member of the missionary board, an honorary deaconess, and a long-time member of the Spiritual Lights.
Nancy's unwavering faith in God and love for her family were her biggest passions. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was kind to all and welcomed anyone into her home.

She leaves to cherish her memories are one daughter, Jacqueline Pharr (Roger) of Charlotte, N.C., two sons: Thomas Asbury (Hilda) of Linden, N.J. and Britton Asbury of the home. Additionally, she was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church located at 8193 Flowes Store Rd. in Concord. The visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The eulogist will be Reverend Dr. Charles Wilson. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery in Concord. Lamb Funeral Home, Inc. will be serving the family.
