George Josiah Clark, age 81 of 4365 Cleburne Blvd, Dublin, passed away Friday, June 19, 1998 at his home. Born April 7, 1917 in Delton, he was the son of the late Hugh Monroe Clark & Effie Mae Burnett Clark. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Alonzo Clark, one sister, Mary C. Strum and one step-grandson, Richie Myers. He was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church, Hiwassee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was a retired employee of Union Camp, Richmond with over 36 years of service. At the age of 10 years old, he rescued a sister and two brothers from their burning home in Delton. Surviving are his wife, Treva Sutphin Wilson Clark, Dublin; one step-daughter & son-in-law, Hope Wilson Myers & Robert Myers, Orlando, FL; one step-son & daughter-in-law, Rodrick S. Wilson & Bonnie Wilson, Pulaski; five brothers, David Lee Clark, Atlanta, GA, Frank Clark, Bowie, MD, Hugh Burnett Clark, Delton, John Clark, Pulaski, Bentley Clark, Richmond; one sister, Gertrude Register, Dublin, one step granddaughter, Renee Ennis, Orlando, FL, one step grandson, Sean E. Wilson, Lenoir, NC and three step great- granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Monday 2 p.m. at the Max Creek Baptist Church, Hiwassee with Pastor Mike Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Pulaski. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Pulaski Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1184. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd, Pulaski. Mr. Clark will be placed in the church by 1:00 p.m. Monday to lie instate until the hour of service. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is in charge of the arrangements.
