William T. "Bill" Banes Sr., 91, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, October, 8, 2013 at 10:42 p.m. at St. Elizabeth East Hospital. Bill was born on December 20, 1921 in Monon, IN to the late Isaac and Emma Kessler Banes. Bill married Virginia June Ellis on March 26, 1944 in Lafayette, and she survives. He worked in the Extrusion and Tube Mill at ALCOA for 31 years before retiring. Bill was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Soldiers Home Road in West Lafayette.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Banes of Lafayette, Homer (wife: Debbie) Banes of Lafayette, and William Tom (wife: Vicki) Banes Jr. of Lafayette, one daughter, Sharon Banes of Lafayette. Also surviving is one sister Betty (husband: John) Nightengale of Medaryville, IN, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by a son, Steve Banes, who passed in 2008, a granddaughter, and 10 brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 5:00 p.m with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3509 Soldiers Home Rd., West Lafayette, with Pastor Walter Allred officiating.
