Mrs. Jane Brennan, a retired
weaver of the Alexander Smith
Carpet Company, died Saturday
in St. Joseph's Hospital after
suffering third degree burns in
her home when her clothing was
ignited by flaming bacon grease.
Mrs. Brennan, who lived at 10
Webster Avenue, was alone at
the time of the accident.
Born in the late 1890's at Mt.
Hope, N. J., Mrs. Brennan was
brought to Yonkers at the age
of four. She attended Sacred
Heart School and Yonkers High
School. In 1917 she was married to Gustav Sandstrom of
Yonkers. He died June 16, 1936.
Her second husband, Richard
Brennan, who married her in
1944, died in July, 1952.
I Mrs. Brennan was a member
of the Monastery Church of the
Sacred Heart and was formerly
active in the Children of Mary
and Rosary Societies.
Surviving are two daughters.
Mrs. Madelene Lockwood of
Corning, N. Y. and Mrs. Winton
W. (Alvina) Branning Jr. of
Yonkers; one son, Augustine R.
Sandstrom of Yonkers; one sister, Mrs. Mary Reynolds of Yonkers, and five grandchildren.
