U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Rochester, New York. He also was elected and served as Major General of the Western New York, Militia. Moving to Pontiac, Michigan, in 1851, he practiced law and was involved in the city's politics. In 1853, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. Not seeking reelection, he resumed the practice of law in Washington, D.C., until his death.
