Born in Visoqo Dogotuki, Macuata, Fiji Islands to Saimone Banuve and Meri Vuniwaqa, he was the brother of Sereana Banuve; Luisa Baleira; Samisoni Kaitu; Jone Koli Banuve and Jiotivini Banuve. He married Mariana Kuinawai Siteri Rakuita and together they had 6 boys and 1 girl.

He was one of the many Fijian soldiers who were present for the nuclear hydrogen bomb testing which was done by the British on Christmas Island in the 1950's and 1960's.

He was a hardworking and loving husband and father to his family.
