In 1943 she married O.R. (Bob) Snell, a service man. She and her family moved to California in 1949.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn and Debbie; along with her priest-brother, Fr. Albin Gietzen; and two sisters, Rosalene and Magdalene.

Mary supported her family after her husband left her. She worked for Bank of America for 20 years, retired in 1980, and went to help her priest brother back in Michigan. She remained with him for 13 years before moving back to California.
