Johnnie R. Baxter, 68, a resident of Howard's Ridge, Missouri near Gainesville passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born July 31, 1945, at Howard's Ridge, Missouri to the late Herdie L. and Virgie (Trivitt) Baxter. Johnnie was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army. After his military service he worked in construction across the United States and then retired on the farm where he loved working his cattle. He was a lifetime member of the Old Country Church at Clarkridge. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Eddie Baxter and a daughter, Theresa Baxter.

Survivors include his wife and soul mate, Donna Baxter of the home; two sons and daughers-in-law, Shawn and Julie Stephenson of Texas and Buster and Tommie Cates of Clinton, Missouri; two daughters, Julie Baxter of Colorado and Deanna Anzalon of Gainesville, Missouri; four sons at heart, Wes and Will Utchman and Doug and Danny Baxter; a brother and sister-in-law, Reed and Rose Baxter of Holt, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Fran Baxter Cowart of Mountain Home; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cheryl and Larry Burgers of Florida, Cyndi and Tom Epps of Missouri, Jimmy Motley of Missouri, Roger and Tammy Motley of Missouri, Warren Short of Florida and Katy and Scott Sobota of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Bailey and Ryan, Brenda Kay and William and Ashley, Amber and Brandon and many loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The funeral will be to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Lawrence officiating. Interment will be private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Howard's Ridge Cemetery Fund, 478 State Highway J, Gainesville, Missouri 65655 or the Old Country Church at Clarkridge, 12174 Highway 201 North, Clarkridge, Arkansas 72623.

John was a very special man and will be loved and missed by all those whom he touched. John's favorite saying, "I'm a busy man".
