Charles E. Arrant, age 90 of Brasstown, NC passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.

He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and had lived most of his life in Clay County, NC. Charles was a son of the late Edd L. and Mattie Jackson Arrant.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Deaver and Ruth Butler and brothers, Frank, Wilbert and Malcolm Arrant.

He was a member of Hickory Stand United Methodist Church, former member of North Carolina Retired Teachers Association, the Southern Highlander Handy Craft Guild and a veteran of WWII. Charles received the American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

He is survived by his sisters, Joanne Hart and husband Chuck of Fredericksburg, VA and Ida Timpson and husband Tim of Brasstown, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Hickory Stand United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Kyker and Rev. Tim Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Heberger, Terry Hedden, Chris Logan, Stewart Hart, Edd Timpson and Tommy Timpson.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Hickory Stand United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hickory Stand United Methodist Church, PO Box 136, Brasstown, NC 28902.
