"Jonathan Larsh was born on November 5, 1794, near Paris, Kentucky. He was the ninth child of Charles and Sarsh [Sarah?] Van Swearingen Larsh. His gravestone can be found in Lingeman Cemetery at the southwest edge of Brownsburg, Indiana, slightly to the left of the entrance. The inscription lists the date of his death as June 2, 1854, thus his sojorn in Indiana was of short duration, and few records can be found pertaining to him. His wife's gravestone is beside him: Elizabeth McNutt Larsh, died on July 28, 1860, age 60 years, 10 months.

A record in Lewis County, Kentucky, clearing the title to a parcel of land owned by Elizabeth's mother states that Jonathan Larshwas not a resident of Kentucky in 1839. Thus he came to Indiana sometime the birth of his 10th child, Benjamin Franklin Larsh, born on August 24, 1839, and March 29, 1841, the date of birth of Rachel Rebecca Larsh, his 11th child and the first Larsh child born in Indiana, according to the 1850 census.
