Alvina F. Alcon, 85, of Hickory, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at Lutheran Home-West after a period of declining health.

Alvina was born June 1, 1924, in Alamance County to the late Jesse and Mary Gillespie Fulcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray B. Alcon, and a son, Mike Faucette.

Alvina was a member of East Hickory Baptist Church and retired from Robinson Hosiery and the Catawba County School System.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Faucette, and fiancee, Sheila, of Hickory and Tony Alcon and wife, Jane, of Cary; a grandson, Joel Faucette of Burlington; two granddaughters, Andera F. Browning of Burlington and Brandy F. Storms and husband, Clay, of San Francisco, Calif.; a stepgrandson, Corey Insoe of Cary; a stepgranddaughter, Madison Insoe of Cary; and a brother, Joel Fulcher of Burlington.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, in the chapel of Hickory Funeral Home, with Chaplin Kim Fox Dowell and the Rev. Paul Childers officiating.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Joel Faucette, David Keller, Steve Hilton, Ed Klinck, Kerry Stoker and Wilmer Walker.
