Funeral services were held at the LaForge Funeral Home Thursday afternoon for Pug Sawyer, 47, who died at the home of his brother, Morgan Sawyer, in this city, Monday, March 28. The Rev. Floyd Brower conducted the service and interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Mr. Sawyer was born August 28, 1909, in Dyer County, Tenn., the son of Daniel and Betty Jean Sawyer. The family moved to this state when he was a young man and he had made Caruthersville his home since then. In 1924 he was married to Miss Cora May Tate and five children were born to them, one dying in infancy.
He is survived by three sons, Jack, Robert and Ralph all of Caruthersville and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Beck of Hayti; four brothers, Morgan, Bob and Cellar Sawyer, all of this city and Bo Sawyer of Detroit; and two sisters, Mrs. Nettie McNeeley and Mrs. Doris Taylor, Caruthersville.
