MRS. NELVIN ALMQUIST DIED HERE THURSDAY
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Elfsborg Lutheran Church, north of Pomeroy for Mrs. Nelvin Almquist, 52, a life-long resident of Pocahontas County who died Thursday evening at her home following a four-month illness.
The Rev. Enoch B. Englund was in charge and interment was in Elfsborg Cemetery with the Michael Funeral Home making the arrangements. Pallbearers were Kenneth, Curtis, Marvin and Leland Samuelson, Charles Levene and Eugene Leonard. The church choir sang two selections, with Mrs. L.T. Monkelien as organist.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six children - Cortlyn and Douglas, students at Iowa State University in Ames, Caryl, Annette, Richard and EaVon, all at home. Also surviving are two sisters - Mrs. Lars Mehl of Fonda and Mrs. Eric Axman of Pomeroy; three brothers, Hilding Samuelson of Fonda and Ernest Samuelson and Rudolph Samuelson, both of Pocahontas; her mother, Mrs. Mathilda Samuelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Agda Mathilda (Samuelson) Almquist was born in Colfax Township, Pocahontas County, on September 20, 1908, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Samuelson. She received the sacrament of holy baptism on Oct. 11, 1908, and became a confirmed member of Elfsborg Lutheran Church at Pomeroy on June 15, 1924. On August 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to Nelvin Almquist.
Mrs. Almquist had been in failing health for some time and passed away on Thursday, August 10, 1961, at 11:30 p.m. She had reached the age of 52 years, 10 months and 20 days.
