With his parents he came to America at the age of nineteen years. Two years were spent in Chicago, two years in Texas, seven years in Cheyenne County, Kansas and the remainder of his life in Fillmore County, Nebraska, with the exception of the last three years, which were spent with his children.
He was united in marriage with Polly Reinsch September 30, 1887, at Benkleman, Neb. To this union were born nine children, two boys dying in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife; three sons, Frank of Luverne, Minn., Emil of Belvidere, Neb., Herman of Strang, Neb.; four daughters, Mary Thomas of Superior, Neb., Anna Crom of Grasston, Minn., Caroline Kinkade of Geneva, Neb., Gertrude Minch of Superior, Neb., and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Shickley at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23. Interment was in the Shickley Cemetery.
