VANDALIA — Albert A. Tippitt, 86, Vandalia, retired heavy equipment operator, died Saturday (Oct. 5, 2013).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Vera Baptist Church. Visitation: one hour before services in the church. Burial: South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia, with military rites. Survivors: wife, Wanda; sons, Dan Tippitt, Charleston, W.Va.; John Tippitt, Bonnie; daughters, Peggy Tippitt, Vandalia; Mary Jane Holder, Dixon; brother, Fred Tippitt, Findlay; sisters, Ina Colclasure, Bement; Nancy Foyles, Findlay; seven grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; three great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren. Preceded by: parents, one daughter and two sisters.
Albert A. "Pete" Tippett, 86, of Vandalia, passed away at 11:20AM Saturday October 5, 2013 at his family home.

Services for Mr. Tippett were held at 10:30AM, Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Vera Baptist Church, Vera, IL with an hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. Dave Hall officiated the service; burial was held in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the Vera Baptist Church or Vandalia Senior Citizens Center.

Albert was born August 4, 1927, in Findlay, the son of Fred L and Janie Lesley Tippett. He married Wanda J Tate on September 19, 1947 in Paducah, KY. He was a in the US Merchant Marines and retired as a heavy equipment construction operator.

Mr. Tippett is survived by his wife Wanda of Vandalia; sons Dan Tippett of Charleston, WV and John Tippett and wife Pam of Bonnie, IL; daughters Peggy Tippett of Vandalia and Mary Jane Holder of Dixon, IL; brother Fred Tippet and wife Chris of Findlay, IL; sisters Ina Colclasure of Bement, IL and Nancy Fowles of Findlay, IL; seven grandchildren; one step grandson; three great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Juanita Tinker, sisters Georgi Massey and June Bina.
