Edward H. Balkam, died December 18, 1907 in Milltown, N.B. at age 80 years, 11 months and 21 days. The widower and accountant was born in Robbinston, Maine, to Massachusetts native John Balkam and Mary McLellan.

In the 1901 Canada Census, book keeper Edward H. Balkam, 74, born January 11, 1827,in the U.S.A. was living in Milltown, N.B. He moved to Canada in 1850.....
Son Hugh and his family lived next door.

Leonora Balkam, wife of Edward Balkam and daughter of George Harris and Lucy Chaloner, died on January 23, 1900 in Millown, N.B. (Someone indexing this death for familysearch.org mistakenly reported that she died in Milltown, Maine)

In the 1891 Canada Census, farmer Ed Balkum, 64, born U.S. was living in Milltown, N.B. with L.A., 61; widow Lucy Foster, 84; Ed Balkum, 31; and civil engineer Hugh, 33, all born in the U.S; and Agnes, 31, born N.B.

Rev. W. BALKAM, D.D., while riding to Lewiston (Maine) Wednesday morn. was thrown from his horse and instantly killed. He was for many years pastor of the Pine St. church in that city. He was Professor of Logic and Christian Evidence in Bates College. The deceased clergyman was a half brother of E.H. BALKAM of Milltown and an native of Robbinston. "They had a County Fair early in October which I attended the first day. It was nothing extra. Edward H. Balkam made the address which appeared pretty well.
