He was united in marriage to Laura Gladys Downing on Dec 3 1914, at Rushville, and to this union seven children were born. Investing his life in farming and ranching, he was active in the Gordon community until the time of his retirement. He was a member of First Methodist church of Gordon.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Ray Warnke (Bernice) of Kuna, Ida., Mrs. Bernard Haller (Lila) of Gordon; four sons Lawrence, Robert, Noel and Donald all of Gordon; two brothers, Olaf of Madill, Okla. and Floyd of Beaumont, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Earl Harrison of Houston, Tex.; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Irwin, and a brother, Avis.
Services were held on Monday, Jan. 9, at the First Methodist church of Gordon with the Rev. Harvey C. Gabel officiation. Pallbearers were Erwin Latshaw, Alfred Spangler, Woodrow Vollintine, Roy Spangler, Lewis Vollintine and Don DeFrance. Burial was in the Gordon Cemetery.
