Lora Dee Taylor passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at the age of 98 in a nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer's and is now well and safe in the arms of her Lord. She was born September 10, 1914, near Grand Saline to William Oscar and Della Minatrea and had lived most of her life in Grand Saline, Van, and Tyler.
Lora Dee gave her life to Christ at the age of 10 and was a Baptist. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family, cooking, painting, wood crafting and gardening.
Left to cherish fond memories are her sons, Jerry Lee Sloan , Cincinnati, Ohio, Roddy Ray Sloan and wife, Shirley, Tyler, former daughter-in-law, Karen Riley, Huntsville, grandsons, Alton, Geoffrey, Jason and Kenneth Sloan, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons along with several special nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, E. M. (Milton) Taylor, her parents, one sister and eight brothers.
Services for Lora Dee Taylor will be held at 2 pm Monday, Nov. 5th, at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton with Rev. Darryle Dunks officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Grand Saline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
The Family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Twin Oaks Nursing Home, Jacksonville, for their excellent care and attention.
