A memorial service was held at Ebenezer Reformed Church 17 Jun 1945 at 2:30 p.m.

Left to mourn him: his widow, Janna DeVries nee Vogel, and his two children: Celia Jane and Jim; his father and step-mother Haike "Harry" and Johanna DeVries; brothers: Claus of Detroit, John and Harry of Morrison, William of Galesburg, and Joe of Denver; one sister, Jeanette Harriet.

He was preceded by his mother, Jennie Smit DeVries, one sister, and one brother.
