Rites for Lt. Wilkin To Be Held Tuesday
Services for First Lt. Wilbur L. Wilkin, who was killed in action in the Pacific area during World War II, will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 P.M. at the Evans funeral home, with burial in the Mt. Olive cemetery. Rev. Floyd Smith will officiate. Veterans posts of Hillsboro will provide a military escort and military rites.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Wilkin; his mother; Mrs. Edith Wilkin, two brothers; Gerald and Leroy, two sisters; Mrs. Mabel Arledge and Mrs. Mary Arledge, all of Hillsboro.
Lt. Wilkin left Hillsboro with the National Guards in October 1940. He saw action in the South Pacific and was killed in action Feb. 10, 1945, at Manila. He was 28 years of age at the time of his death.
