Mrs. Ola Kay Helton, age 83 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at Union County Nursing Home.

Ola Kay was born Thursday, January 15, 1925 in Union County, GA to the late Guy Plott and the late Viola Justice Plott. She was preceded in death by husband, Frank Helton, first husband, Coy Lance, second husband, Carl Rich and brother, Max Plott. She was a retired first grade School Teacher from the Union County School System and was very proud to have never had to paddle a child. She was a very kind, caring and loving person to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include: nephew and wife, Mike and Elizabeth Plott of Blairsville, GA, nephew, Terry Plott of Young Harris, GA, great nephew, Judd Plott, great niece, Maggie Plott, step-son and wife, Randy and Lydia Helton and their children of Blue Ridge, GA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Barbara Helton of Cherry Log, GA, sister-in-law, Agnes Garland of Ellijay, GA, sister-in-law, Christine Helton of Cherry Log, GA, special friends, Helen Hanson and Liz Poole, room mate at Union County Nursing Home, Virgie Swain and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music will be provided by Elizabeth and Maggie Plott. Interment will follow in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Clarence Collins, Tamar Thompson, Wayne Collins, Randy Helton, Presley Rich and John Gurley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, September 2.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Old Union Baptist Church Old Cemetery Fund.

The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
