William is the son of Alexander Smith Ijames and Susan Ellen Tatum. He is a brother to Bessie, Emma Lundy Ijames Moore, Maud and Fannie Ijames.

He was hospitalized 8 months and died of cirrhosis of the liver the day after Christmas. He had not married.
