Dorothy Lee Bear, 87, a former resident of Dorrance, Kansas and the Russell County area, died on Friday, October 04, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Ellsworth, Kansas.

Dorothy was born September 15, 1926, in rural Dorrance, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver and Leah (Herbel) Cooper. She grew up in the Dorrance area and attended country schools. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to George Weinhold on November 16, 1942. From this union they were blessed with 3 children Georgia, Evert and Peary. Her husband George died unexpectedly on February 16, 1965. After George's death, Dorothy was fortunate to find love for a second time and was united in marriage to Clyde Bear on April 09, 1967. From this union they were blessed with their daughter Cindy. Clyde also preceded Dorothy in death on January 13, 2009.

Dorothy loved raising her family and being a homemaker. She also loved being a part-time caregiver to her grandparents, family and friends who needed her. She enjoyed beautiful flowers, quilting, cooking and tending her garden. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her 4 children daughter Georgia Lee Moser and husband Jim of Norton, Kansas, son Evert Weinhold and wife Wilma of Nixa, Missouri, son Peary Weinhold and wife Laura of Kanopolis, Kansas and daughter Cindy Bear of Wichita, Kansas; sister Marlene Baral and husband Luther of Bunker Hill, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George Weinhold and Clyde Bear; sister Ella Mae Driscol and brother Daryl Dwight Cooper.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 08, 2013, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Wilson City Cemetery. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
