Dr. SIGURD K. ANDREASSEN, 83 died Friday at Minneapolis hospital. Dr. Andreassen was born at Bloomer, (WI.) and attended Augsburg College and the U. of Minn. Agricultural School. He graduated from McKillip Vet. School in Chicago in 1916. After serving during WW 1 in the Army Veterinarian Corps he resumed private practice and moved to Menomonie in 1916.
In 1963 he received the Meritorious Service Award of the WI. Veterinary Medical Association and in 1967 received the group's honor and service award. He was a former president of the association.
Augsburg College presented him with a distinguished alumni citation in 1969.
He was a member of our Saviour's Lutheran church, serving on the board of trustees and as financial secretary, and had served on the Menomonie School Board 26 years. He was a former school board president.
Member of the American Legion, Veterans of WW 1, Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine. After 51 years of veterinary service he retired in 1967.
Survived by his wife Ruth, 4 daughters, a son, a brother Einar Andreassen of Minneapolis.
