Hargrove Arthur Glenn, son of Jeremiah Glenn Jr. and the former Miss Sarah Arthur, was born around 1807 in Laurens County, South Carolina. Young Hargrove was educated at Broad River Academy in Fairfield County; where his father was a school trustee and had move the family in the mid-1820's.

Hargrove married Miss Margaret Jane Thompson, daughter of William and Elizabeth Thompson of Jenkinsville. Hargrave and Margaret Jane had the following known children:
Jeremiah (1831-1857)
Urena Rebecca (1833-1841)
John Milton (1834-1890)
Hargrove Arthur, Jr (1836-1890)
David Locke (1837-1922)
Joseph Henry (1839-1863)
Sarah Elizabeth (1841-1921)
Margaret Thompson (1844-1927)
Mary Ann (1847-1849)

In 1842, upon the death of Margaret Jane's father, Hargrove Glenn was one of the executors of his will and bequeathed the old family plantation, High Point.

After Margaret's death in 1859, Hargrove married Miss Mary Rountree Palmer of Union County, South Carolina. They had one daughter:
Nancy "Nannie" Arthur {m. Evans} (1864-1920)

Hargrove Arthur Glenn died at the residence of his father-in-law, Ellis Palmer, on the 29th July 1865 and laid to rest at High Point Plantation.
