Darrell LaDean "D.L." Ivy of Vance, 84, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Services were Saturday, May 10 at 11 am at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks with burial in Lambert Cemetery.
Born Febrary 24, 1924 to Milburn Elvis Ivy and Vera Brasher Ivy, he was a retired farmer who farmed in the Walnut Community for 41 years and was a member of the Walnut Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents: a brother, Claxton Odell Ivy; two sisters, Janola Ivy Smith and Geneva Ivy Neilson; a son, Richard Darrell Ivy; a great-grandson, Gregory Darrell Ivy, Jr. and Homa Jean Chandler Ivy to whom he was married for 58 years.
Survivors include his wife, Annie O'Briant Ivy, a stepson, Steven Kelcie Edwards and wife, Melba, of Shawsville, VA; a grandson Gregory Darrell Ivy and wife, Sherry of Boyd, TX. and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Nicole Ivy of Boyd, TX; along with many nieces and nephews.
